TUNNEL TRAIL E-BIKE RIDE

Lake Mead Field Notes

INTRODUCTION

Most people come to Vegas for the lights.

They don’t come for this.

A quiet trail carved through the side of a mountain…
five tunnels… lake views stretching out in every direction…

No noise. No crowds. No rush.

Just a straight path forward.

THE RIDE OVERVIEW

This trail sits just outside Boulder City inside Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

It’s wide, flat, and built on an old railroad line that once helped construct the Hoover Dam.

Today, it’s one of the easiest rides in the area — and one of the most overlooked.

WHAT MAKES THIS TRAIL UNIQUE

  • You’re riding through actual tunnels carved into the mountain

  • The trail stays smooth the entire way

  • Every turn opens up to views of Lake Mead

  • It feels remote… but it’s minutes from the city

This isn’t a “hike.”

It’s a glide.

TUNNELS TRAIL BREAKDOWN

There are five tunnels along the route.

Each one hits a little different.

  • The first pulls you in — light at the end, cool air inside

  • The middle tunnels settle you into the rhythm

  • The last one opens up toward the dam and wide water views

Simple. Clean. Real.

FIELD NOTES

  • Early morning or sunset changes everything

  • Midday heat builds fast — don’t underestimate it

  • The tunnel interiors feel cooler, but the open trail doesn’t

  • This is one of the best spots in Vegas for clean, cinematic footage
